Meet the Board of Directors
Craig Kennedy
Board President
Craig is a disability consultant and trainer with the Open Doors Organization and is also a Whole Food Nutrition and Business Coach with the Juice Plus Company. Craig moved to Steamboat Springs, Colorado from the Adirondacks in upstate NY in 1994. A skiing accident left him paralyzed from the waist down just two years later. Craig is a published author and Co-Founder of an Adaptive Travel Resource Company called Access Anything with his wife Andy. The founder of CK Consulting, he has spent the last 15 years motivating people with disabilities to look beyond perceived abilities and continues advocating for rights of people as both community members and travelers. Craig spent 7 years as a founding Board Member and Program Director for Steamboat Adaptive Recreational Sports, (STARS), helping to grow this Adaptive Sports Program from the ground up while teaching others with disabilities how to ski and recreate in the outdoors. Craig brings an infectious positive attitude with him wherever he goes and works to affect change, better health, and improved access to the world for people with disabilities. |
Susan Waldron
Board Member
Susan relocated to Steamboat Springs in 1970 from NYC. She received a degree in Medical Secretarial from Westchester College using her skills in the office of a doctor who was head of the American Medical Association. Since making her home in the Colorado Rockies, she has worked at the Bud Werner Library for 20 years and at the Steamboat Art Museum fulfilling the task of operations assistant. She also initiated the SAM gift shop. Her two children and seven grandchildren were all born and raised in Steamboat. Susan’s former husband started and owned Alpine Taxi for many years. She adores the outdoors in all seasons with a passion for nature and all it beholds. Susan is involved in the art community, appreciates music, gardening, travel, reading and adventure. Her diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis in 1999 has intensified her attitude of making the most of each day as you never know when it will be the last time you do something. She encourages herself and others to take risks as life has so many wonderful and challenging opportunities to experience. Susan is honored to contribute to NWCCI by being on the Board of Directors. It is satisfying to help guide the organization to work within the communities of Northwest Colorado in making them more compatible to persons with disabilities. |
Ruth Armbruster
Board Secretary
Ruth currently works full-time as a U.S. Forest Service technician, producing data projects, mapping, permitting, and billing, among other duties. She has lived in Steamboat Springs since 2014, has taken a permanent position with the Forest Service and plans to stay. In 2011 Ruth earned a Bachelors degree in Earth Sciences. Shortly after graduating from college, she received a T-10 spinal cord injury while driving a horse drawn hay wagon full of tourists near her hometown of Ann Arbor, Michigan. Ruth uses a manual wheelchair and her favorite things to do are mono-skiing and horseback riding. Ruth also enjoys playing banjo, shooting archery, swimming laps, hanging with friends and exploring Steamboat and all the great places in this awesome state of Colorado. Ruth’s past professional and vocational experience includes working at the following: a research laboratory in Ann Arbor, a center for kids and adults with (mostly) cognitive disabilities, a summer camp for kids with ALL types of disabilities depending on the week, as a Teacher’s Aid for geology classes, and as a camping guide for an organization that plans and outfits trips for people with and without disabilities, called Wilderness Inquiry. Ruth is excited to be involved with disability advocacy in the northwest Colorado and representing how to live life to the fullest with a disability. |
Michael Toothaker
Board Member
Michael Toothaker has worked with adults with disabilities for over 40 years. He has been a resident of Steamboat Springs for 36 years He holds a Masters Degree in Psychology and currently is the Area Coordinator for Horizons Specialized Services in Moffat County and is a psychotherapist at Yampa Valley Psychotherapists. He has served on the United Way Board, Routt Rule Fire Protection, and the Routt County Alcohol Prevention Board. |
Bruce Roemmich
Board Member
Bruce has lived in Steamboat Springs since 1999 with his wife Pam. He is currently on the Board of Directors for Ride Designs, a company that designs, builds and distributes unique wheelchair seating solutions. He received a BFA in Industrial Design from the Maryland Institute of Art and Johns Hopkins University. Bruce has been involved in the successful startup of several companies. He has held positions in these companies as product designer, mechanical engineering lab manager, IT supervisor, marketing and communications director, founder and chief operating officer. Bruce holds several mechanical design patents, has designed and implemented national marketing programs, customized and implemented manufacturing resource planning systems and assisted with a corporate acquisition. Bruce and Pam have a daughter, now 37 years old, with cerebral palsy living with companion support in Fort Collins. Raising their daughter has given Bruce an appreciation for the challenges involved in acquiring service assistance for persons with disabilities. When first moving to Steamboat Springs, Bruce worked as a ski instructor and is certified in both Alpine and Adaptive instruction. His interest in adaptive skiing came as a result of his daughter’s involvement in the sport. |
Christine Ebert-Santos
Board Member
Dr Chris Ebert-Santos is a pediatrician at Ebert Family Clinic in Frisco, where she does patient care and high altitude research since 2000. Previously she worked in the Northern Marianas Islands for 20 years serving as Director of Public Health, Director of Medical Affairs, and establishing the first early childhood intervention program. |
Daniel H. Bonner
Board Treasurer
Dan started his professional life as CPA in 1981 in Steamboat. After ten years, he followed his entrepreneurial spirit into private enterprises, including resort management, retail endeavors, and business brokering. THPK lured him back to public accounting in 2007. With his extensive business background, Dan works with business owners in organizing, planning, and growing their operations. In addition to business tax planning, Dan also helps clients with business succession and estate planning. He's been instrumental in expanding THPK's presence in the Craig community and oversees our staff located in the Craig office. Dan has been married to Kim Bonner since 1984 and has two sons Jace and Eric. Dan spends his free time enjoying outdoor activities including hunting, mountain biking, snowshoeing, hockey and waterskiing. |
