Meet the Board of Directors
Michael Toothaker
Board President Michael Toothaker has worked with adults with disabilities for over 40 years. He has been a resident of Steamboat Springs for 36 years He holds a Masters Degree in Psychology and currently is the Area Coordinator for Horizons Specialized Services in Moffat County and is a psychotherapist at Yampa Valley Psychotherapists. He has served on the United Way Board, Routt Rule Fire Protection, and the Routt County Alcohol Prevention Board. |
Bruce Roemmich
Vice President Bruce has lived in Steamboat Springs since 1999 with his wife Pam. He is currently on the Board of Directors for Ride Designs, a company that designs, builds and distributes unique wheelchair seating solutions. He received a BFA in Industrial Design from the Maryland Institute of Art and Johns Hopkins University. Bruce has been involved in the successful startup of several companies. He has held positions in these companies as product designer, mechanical engineering lab manager, IT supervisor, marketing and communications director, founder and chief operating officer. Bruce holds several mechanical design patents, has designed and implemented national marketing programs, customized and implemented manufacturing resource planning systems and assisted with a corporate acquisition. Bruce and Pam have a daughter, now 37 years old, with cerebral palsy living with companion support in Fort Collins. Raising their daughter has given Bruce an appreciation for the challenges involved in acquiring service assistance for persons with disabilities. When first moving to Steamboat Springs, Bruce worked as a ski instructor and is certified in both Alpine and Adaptive instruction. His interest in adaptive skiing came as a result of his daughter’s involvement in the sport. |
Daniel H. Bonner
Board Treasurer Dan started his professional life as CPA in 1981 in Steamboat. After ten years, he followed his entrepreneurial spirit into private enterprises, including resort management, retail endeavors, and business brokering. THPK lured him back to public accounting in 2007. With his extensive business background, Dan works with business owners in organizing, planning, and growing their operations. In addition to business tax planning, Dan also helps clients with business succession and estate planning. He's been instrumental in expanding THPK's presence in the Craig community. and serves our communities with various civic engagement endeavors, including the Rotary Club of Steamboat Springs and the NWCCI Board of Directors. Dan actively supports NWCCI financial operations by participating on the Finance Committee, assisting with drafting and presenting the annual budget for approval, reviewing and approving financial transactions, providing technical assistance on bookkeeping, accounting, audit engagements, related policy and more. Dan has been married to Kim Bonner since 1984 and has two sons Jace and Eric. Dan spends his free time enjoying outdoor activities including hunting, mountain biking, snowshoeing. |
Craig Kennedy
Board Member Craig is a disability consultant and trainer with the Open Doors Organization and is also a Whole Food Nutrition and Business Coach with the Juice Plus Company. Craig moved to Steamboat Springs, Colorado from the Adirondacks in upstate NY in 1994. A skiing accident left him paralyzed from the waist down just two years later. Craig is a published author and Co-Founder of an Adaptive Travel Resource Company called Access Anything with his wife Andy. The founder of CK Consulting, he has spent the last 15 years motivating people with disabilities to look beyond perceived abilities and continues advocating for rights of people as both community members and travelers. Craig spent 7 years as a founding Board Member and Program Director for Steamboat Adaptive Recreational Sports, (STARS), helping to grow this Adaptive Sports Program from the ground up while teaching others with disabilities how to ski and recreate in the outdoors. Craig brings an infectious positive attitude with him wherever he goes and works to affect change, better health, and improved access to the world for people with disabilities. |
Don Godshaw
Board Secretary Don Godshaw started a career in sales during the 1970s. He lived in Colorado and traveled as a sales representative in the outdoor industry from 1976 to 1981. In 1981 Don moved to Chicago and joined a start-up company called HBIE which became High Sierra Sport company. During his 17 years there he was able to grow the company from under $1 million to $35 million as the vice president of sales and primary product development officer. In 1998 Don resigned from High Sierra and went to work at a small company called Travel Caddy, a luggage cart business. 18 months later Don and his wife purchased the business and changed its focus to Traveler accessories and antitheft bags. Today, Travelon does business in over 20 countries and is a top supplier to major retail and Internet companies in the US and globally. Don is now fully retired from the day-to-day activities with the company, but still maintains majority ownership. For 10 years until 2022 Don served in various roles with Adaptive Adventures, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, including Board Member and Vice President. Today, Adaptive Adventures works with over 5000 veterans with disabilities in 23 states. Don’s involvement with this organization and adaptive sports as a consumer, athlete and enthusiast, resulted in learning a great deal about nonprofit operations such as fundraising, proper management structure and marketing approaches. In 2013,Don and his wife purchased a home in Steamboat Springs, in 2020 Don became a full-time resident of his long-term home as part of the Steamboat community. Don’s expertise brings a unique and valuable perspective to the Board of directors that contributes to NWCCI’s continued ability to flourish. |
